Secondary Education Program
This program leads to teacher certification for either grades 5-12 or P-12 depending on the subject area. At the middle level, teachers work with children in a specific subject area such as English, Art, Science, Social Studies, PE, Art, etc. in daily and long-range lessons and activities aligned to state standards. Depending on their subject area, candidates in this program gain experiences in various grade levels and upon completion will want to consider employment in middle and high school grades* in their subject/endorsement area in public and private schools. *Only Dance, Fitness/Health (PE), Modern/Classical Languages, Music, Theatre Arts, and Visual Arts lead to the P-12 endorsement that would allow for teaching at the elementary level.
This program includes undergraduate, post-baccalaureate, and Masters in Teaching options.
Special Education Program P-12
The P-12 Special Education Program leads to teacher certification that qualifies teachers to work with children who are identified as at-risk for developmental delay or other disabilities, often in a pull-out supportive role for their academic subjects or consultation role with classroom teachers. *Some 6-12 positions may require an additional subject area endorsement.
The program includes undergraduate and post-baccalaureate options.
