Nurses are consistently held in high regard by patients, families and communities. Year after year, Gallup polls reveal that nurses are ranked as the most trustworthy profession in America.

The fundamentals of nursing practice result in nurses being the member of health care teams who spend the most time with patients and families. Additionally, nurses are on the front lines of patient care in a variety of settings, understanding from the practice-perspective how to best improve quality, contain costs, and ultimately improve care delivery. These factors directly contribute to nurses being the profession most prepared to advocate for patients and families when leadership decisions about health care systems are made.
