College Options

There are many different options after high school. You can attend a technical college, a community college or a four-year university. Do you know the difference between these?

Technical College

A college focused specifically on a job skill or trade such as a dentist, electrician or mechanic. Locally, we have Bellingham Technical College as a great option!

Community College

These colleges are affordable ways to get an Associate’s degree. Many students chose to attend a community college (two year program), and then transfer to a university to complete their Bachelor’s degree. One local option is Whatcom Community College.

College or University

These colleges are focused towards students working on a Bachelor’s degree (typically a four-year degree) or higher (Masters or Doctorate). Today we will explore Western Washington University to share what a university is like, but there is also Skagit Valley College and Northwest Indian College nearby as well!

All of these options are great ways to continue to build towards your dreams and goals! Most students consider a campus tour before choosing which option works best for them. Today we would like to take you on a virtual tour, to give you a sense of some of the options near you.

Let’s start by exploring three areas of Western Washington University located in Bellingham, WA! The links below will take you to interactive tours.

Experience a full guided tour on campus, in English or Spanish.
