Quarter 1 -- Fall 2026 (Part-time)

| September 23 | PRACTICUM - START DATE Interns spend minimum of 25 hours in the classroom during fall quarter. Schedule to be arranged between intern and cooperating teacher (CT). |
| December 11 | Last day of fall quarter Interns must complete hours on or before this date, extensions permitted with approval. |
Quarter 2 -- Winter 2027 (full-time)

| January 4 | INTERNSHIP - APPROXIMATE START DATE Interns begin when their Cooperating Teacher (CT) returns after winter break. Check with CT to confirm this date. During this term, follow the school/district calendar. It is the responsibility of the intern to know and follow the schedule(s) of the particular school/district to which they have been assigned. Interns do not follow WWU’s schedule with respect to holidays, breaks, etc. |
| February 12 | MIDTERM Evaluation Due to OFE Midterm conferences should occur between February 8-12 |

| April 16-23 | Last official Day for intern Interns must spend at least 14 weeks with students, and therefore the last day varies based on school/district calendar. If the public-school spring break occurs before you have completed 14 weeks with students, you must return after the public-school spring break in order to finish the required amount of time with students. You do not take WWU’s Spring Break. |
Important Notes:
- Intern must take full teaching responsibility for at least 3 weeks.
- Interns work the same hours and days as a contracted teacher.
- Interns must earn a minimum of 450 hours during the full-time quarter.
- Graduation: Winter quarter internships extend into Spring quarter and interns receive an “IP” (In Progress) grade until all requirements are met. Candidates may still graduate with the incomplete grade but receipt of one's degree will remain pending until the incomplete grade is changed to an S. Graduation application and grade conversion deadlines are set by the Registrar’s office. OFE will notify students who will not meet these dates due to adjusted or extended internship experiences and thus will not qualify for graduation during Winter quarter.
