Pre-Professional Growth Plan

The State of Washington requires all student teachers to complete this professional growth plan. This is a state certification requirement and needs to be completed at the end of your first fulltime internship. The plan is to reflect your goals for post-student teaching; goals you will have for your first year of contracted teaching.

First: Review the below professional standards. There are 3 standards with 13 total goals or benchmarks. You need to review those 13 goals and choose 3 for your plan. Your 3 goals must be from at least 2 different standards. Example: Standard 1, goal A and G (so that reflects 2 goals) and Standard 2 goal C (that is the 3rd goal).

Second, use the below template to write about each goal. This will include your activities, rationale, possible resources, and a timeline (complete by date). Since you will be completing this plan prior to starting your contracted professional career, you may need to keep the possible resources and timeline general enough to align to an anticipated hire date.

Third, review, print, and give a copy to your UIC (you and your UIC will sign the form). Remember that this is a certification requirement and failure to submit a completed plan will delay your certification.
