Hilary Schwandt, Ph.D.

Associate Professor

About

My name is Hilary Schwandt and I am an Associate Professor at Fairhaven College at Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington. I earned my master’s and doctoral degrees from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. My research focuses on reproductive health in sub-Saharan Africa – particularly in the area of family planning. Most recently, I have been awarded, with a colleague, a second round of National Science Foundation (NSF) funding to conduct research with undergraduates from the USA and Rwanda on Rwanda’s successful family planning program. At Fairhaven, I teach in the areas of pregnancy and childbirth, nutrition, and population health. I am originally from Bellingham – and I love everything about our environment. I have two elementary school-aged children and always a random assortment of pets.
