About

Dr. Yang is an Assistant Professor of Special Education at Western Washington University. His research lies in the interdisciplinary fields of special education, early childhood education, language & literacy, bilingualism, and teacher education. His scholarly pursuits center around investigating the language and literacy development of young children on the autism spectrum, with a particular emphasis on those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. He received his Master's and PhD degrees in Special Education from Queen's University in Canada. Prior to academia, he was a high school teacher in Seattle Public Schools District.
