The purpose of College Access Corps program is to improve college access of economically disadvantaged youth in kindergarten and grades 4-12 in the states of Washington and Oregon. Economic disadvantage is defined as 50% or more of the youth in a group being eligible for the federally – funded free/reduced lunch program. AmeriCorps members will strive to promote educational equity and inclusion that supports the needs of students with various backgrounds.
The Woodring College of Education-Bellingham Schools Partnership seeks outstanding AmeriCorps members to inspire youth to become their best selves, supporting their success in school and helping them explore and envision their future opportunities. Coordinators work on-site at district schools to provide college access coaching for youth and families. Coordinators interface with service-learners from the Western Washington
University Woodring College of Education’s Learning in Community and Schools (LinCS) program. We are looking for strong candidates who love working with youth and will advance the reciprocal relationship between WWU/WCE and the Bellingham Schools!
