Welcome to the Diversity, Recruitment, and Retention Office!

Purpose and Mission

The Diversity Recruitment and Retention (DRR) Office advances Woodring College of Education’s commitment to fostering a culture of learning that advances knowledge, embraces diversity, and promotes social justice.

The DRR Office provides intentional college access into Teacher Education programs and student support services to prospective and current Western Washington University students through culturally responsive and purposeful outreach, pathway programming, and student engagement.

Furthermore, the DRR Office strives to create space with students of color, students from other underrepresented groups, and allies to build a community to provide leadership, mentorship, support systems, and share conversations about diversity and inclusion in education and society.

As part of a collective with other programs, centers, academic affairs, and student services, and organizations, the DRR office is committed to dismantling unjust current conditions and practices that dehumanize and prevent our students of color from access to our college programs and resources.
