The office of Diversity, Recruitment, and Retention has several internship opportunities every quarter. Interns are responsible for being involved with office functions, creating new connections, and fostering personal and professional development.

Hi I’m Frank!

Frank Alvear is a Junior majoring in Human Services. He is interning with DRR this quarter as part of his Human Services internship with his program. Frank is interested in working in Education and has several forming experiences that have led to this interest. Apart from interning with DRR, Frank works as a substitute paraeducator for the Bellingham Public Schools, as well as has had experience in early childhood education. He desires social justice-oriented education and wishes to contribute to this overarching goal in any way possible.

Hi, I’m Lane!

Lane is a senior majoring in Human Services with a minor in Exceptionality and Disability. She is currently an intern at the Diversity, Recruitment, and Retention office and loves it. Lane is very passionate about advocating for individuals with disabilities and has many different experiences to help support her desire to help others. Right now, Lane is working at the Disability Access Center as a Remote Participation Advocate providing students who can’t come to campus with certain accommodations. Lane is hoping to continue working really hard to create positive experiences as well as inclusivity for everyone even after she graduates.

Hi, I'm Julie!

Julie is a senior in the Human Services program with a minor in Education and Social Justice. Julie is an intern for the DRR office as well as a peer mentor for Future Woodring Scholars 2021-2022 year. She is passionate about helping people whether that is in higher education or outside of school. She plans to attend graduate school for Rehabilitation Counseling in the Fall.
