Step 1: Review Admission Requirements

Teacher Certification Applicants Must Meet the Following:

Minimum of 45 college-level credits including applicable AP and/or IB scores, or AA/DTA from a Washington 2-year college
2.75 GPA
Basic Skills Test Scores requirement (WEST-B, SAT or ACT)
English composition course (ENG 101) or an equivalent AP or IB score

Recommended Program Prerequisites:

Completing the program pre-requisites listed below before applying will expedite your time to program completion:

ASLC 101
MATH 111 or 112 (111 is preferred) OR ALEKS Math Placement Assessment
SCED 201 and all other Science GURs.
- **Not required for Special Education or Special Education plus Content Endorsement programs

Step 3: Submit an Application

Notes:

If you are not a WWU student, you must apply to WWU. This is a separate application.
The Early Childhood Special Education program only admits for fall quarter.
All other programs admit quarterly (Fall, Winter, and Spring).
If the application due date falls on a date Western is closed, applications will be due the following business day.

Application Review and Decisions

All applicants who meet the minimum requirements and submit a completed application will have their application reviewed by the department faculty. Late applications will be reviewed on a space available basis.
Applications are evaluated to determine the most qualified applicants.
