For students in Woodring College of Education who aspire to or have demonstrated service and leadership that supports high risk children or youth.  The scholarship may be renewed through completion of program.

Paul and Joyce Ackley Gillie Scholarship

One or more multiple-year scholarships, offered annually, not to exceed three consecutive years for any one recipient, to students who will be applying to, or are enrolled in, a degree or certificate in teacher education.  Student(s) must maintain high academic standing; and must have proven financial need.  As long as funding is available and the student maintains eligibility, this scholarship is automatically renewable for up to two additional years for full-time students, or until a degree is granted, whichever comes first.

Winifred Nolte Keyes Scholarship*

The Winifred Nolte Keyes Scholarship provides support for native/indigenous students earning a degree and/or certificate in education at Woodring College of Education.

Dina Benedetti Scholarship

The Dina Benedetti Scholarship will be awarded to deserving students with outstanding academic merit in the Woodring College of Education who are participating in a teacher preparation outreach program (K-8 certification), including alternate route programs. 

Whenever possible, preference will be made to applicants who demonstrate, in descending order of priority:

  • High potential for becoming an effective teacher
  • Financial need
  • English Language Learners/Bilingual Education
  • Working para-professionals

Paul and Jeannette Woodring Scholarship*

The Paul and Jeannette Woodring Scholarship supports underrepresented students who are pursuing a career in education or Human Services.   The scholarship is automatically awarded to students who were selected as Future Woodring Scholars or recruited through the Maestros Para El Pueblo & Recruiting Washington Teachers programs and are participating in certain first year experiences (FIGS).

 

Inspired for Teaching Excellence Scholarship*

Recipients of the Inspired for Teaching Excellence Scholarship possess a passion for making a difference through teaching in P-12 schools and are incoming freshmen from Washington. It is renewed annually until graduation.  Applicants are recruited through the Western Washington University Admissions office. 

John and Marilyn Warner Promise Scholarship*

  • The John and Marilyn Warner Promise Scholarship supports underrepresented students who apply to and are accepted into the Martinez Fellowship program - Technology Access Foundation
  • The program's mission is to improve teacher diversity through mentoring, seminars, and other means of support.

Ruth S. Cox Memorial Scholarship
